Delaware is the sixth least populous of the 50 United States, as per the Twenty-third U.S. Census. On December 7, 1787, it became the first state to affirm the United States Constitution and thus known as "The First State". According to the 2010 US Census the population of the state was 897,934 (approx), a 14.6% increase over the 2000 Census.
The first Delaware Federal Census was enumerated in 1790 and since then it has been taken every ten years. However, the 1790 census records of this state are known to have been damaged in the War of 1812. The State Census of Del was performed only once in 1782 but the enumeration was incomplete.
